404inc Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy.

Effective date: January 1, 2025 · Last updated: May 2, 2026

The short version: We collect as little as possible, keep it only as long as necessary, never sell it, and never share it with advertisers or third-party trackers. We use first-party cookies only. Client project data is governed by a separate signed NDA. If you have any questions, email us directly at privacy@build404.com.

Who we are

404inc is a SaaS platform architecture practice operated by Jordan Hammond and the 404inc team, headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. When we say "404inc," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy, we mean the 404inc practice and any services we operate under the 404inc name.

This policy applies to our website (build404.com and any subdomains), our client-facing project tooling, and any direct communications you have with our team.

What we collect and why

We collect information in a small number of specific situations:

  • When you contact us. If you fill out the engagement intake form or email us directly, we store the information you submit — your name, email address, and the description of your project — so we can respond to you. We don't add you to any marketing list. We don't share your information with third parties. We use it only to evaluate and respond to your inquiry.
  • When you visit our website. We use first-party cookies only (described below). We do not run third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.), ad networks, session replay tools, or any other tracking that identifies you across sites. The only data we collect through the website is the aggregate and anonymous information described in the cookie section below.
  • When we work together. If you become a client, we collect and store the information necessary to run the engagement — contact details, project context, access credentials where relevant. This information is governed by a separate mutual NDA and data-handling agreement that we sign with all clients before work begins.

Cookies

Our website uses first-party cookies only. No third-party cookie is set by our site for any purpose. The cookies we use are:

  • 404inc_consent — Stores your cookie preferences from the consent panel. Expires in 1 year. Required to remember your choice.
  • 404inc_session — A random session identifier. Set only if you opt in to preference cookies. Expires in 30 days. Used to avoid re-showing the cookie banner to returning visitors.
  • 404inc_visited — A visit counter (number only — no identifying information). Set only if you opt in to preference cookies. Expires in 1 year.
  • 404inc_analytics_id — A randomly generated anonymous identifier. Set only if you opt in to analytics cookies. Expires in 1 year. Used to count unique visitors and understand which pages are read most. This ID is not linked to your identity in any way.

You can review and change your cookie choices at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page.

How we store and protect information

Intake form submissions are stored in a password-protected system accessible only to the 404inc team. Client project information is stored in encrypted repositories and project management tools with access restricted to the engineers working on that engagement. We do not store payment card information — any invoicing is handled through a third-party billing provider (Stripe or equivalent) under their own privacy and security terms.

We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep information

  • Inquiry information (intake form submissions, emails): retained for 2 years from the date of the last communication, then deleted unless an engagement followed.
  • Client project information: retained for 5 years from the end of the engagement, then deleted unless we have a legal obligation to retain it longer.
  • Website analytics data: the anonymous counters and page-view aggregates are retained indefinitely, but contain no personally identifying information.

Third-party services

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). This means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you load our site, which may result in Google logging your IP address in accordance with their own privacy policy. We are evaluating self-hosting our fonts to eliminate this dependency.

Other than Google Fonts, we do not load third-party scripts, iframes, tracking pixels, or other resources from external domains on our marketing site.

Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable privacy law — including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@build404.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, additional rights and obligations may apply. We are happy to discuss them on request.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices change or as required by law. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
